The Aaron Bowley
Best Super Bowl Ads… And there weren’t many standouts :(

Just thought I’d talk a bit about the remarkably disappointing Super Bowl Ads.

Basically, usually they are worth watching, and I think for the most part, it was a snoozefest. Some very lazy and odd humor in many of them.

But I did want to say that I think Denny’s did the best job for themselves, it’s the ad I think people will think about the most after the fact (well, at least until Tuesday, the day of the free Grand Slams… Which reminds me, anyone want to go? Haha) and many I am sure are thinking about their birthdays and whether or not they are going to stop by Denny’s for their free meal. And really, why wouldn’t you? That’s cool! (Except of course, your friends will have to pay for their food, and that is why this is brilliant).

Also, I think the GoDaddy ads will drive a lot of traffic to their site, and I think that would produce a lot of business for them, because there are TONS of people out there that have been meaning to get their own domain name, and being ON the site to watch the extended ads will pretty much seal the deal for a lot of them. Plus they are running a discount right now. Smart.

The Audi commercial was clever. Good move for them image wise.

Also Hyundai’s little ad campaign was pretty brilliant in my opinion. Quality cars, a sleek look, and by far the most important part of buying a Hyundai, the 10 year warranty. I think the 10 Years ad will resonate (or resonated) very strongly will people. It’s comforting news for consumers. An affordable quality sleek looking car with the best warranty in the world? Well played Hyundai! (Honorable mention to KIA, the Sorento was looking pretty good in that ad). (VW was funny but it didn’t make me want to buy one).

I do have to hand it to Motorola’s ad with Megan Fox. There was one scene in that ad in particular that was pretty racy, but all the little segments in there were somewhat thoughtful.

But the rest of them were rather dull. I was severely disappointed by Doritos (The dog and the casket were terrible, the samurai and little kid ads were better, but not great) and the beer companies. Very lame humor. Usually they are great, and they did not live up to their standars :(

Lastly… Betty White?! Genius :)
